Dr. David Medford
Dr. Medford attended Cornell University and completed his medical school training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers-UMDNJ). He performed his Internship at University Hospital and his Ophthalmology Residency at United Eye Hospital, both part of the Rutgers-UMDNJ system.
Dr. Medford has been in private practice since 1988, with a concentration in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He uses state of the art surgical techniques including LASER enhanced LenSx Cataract surgery, "No-Stitch", "No-Needle" Cataract surgery, Intralase & Custom View LASIK, Yag & Argon laser procedures, SLT laser treatment for glaucoma and Botox Cosmetic treatments.
Dr. Medford is a past member of the NJAO Board of Governors. For 2 decades, he held the position of Director of the Morris County Eye Health Service as well as the Township Ophthalmologist for the West Orange Board of Health. He is the recipient of the NJ ARC award for professionals. He is an Attending Physician at both Morristown Memorial & St. Barnabas Hospitals as well as an Attending Physician, Founder & Shareholder at Ridgedale Surgical Center in Cedar Knolls. Dr. Medford's professional affiliations include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, NJ Academy of Ophthalmology, Morris County Medical Society, Medical Society of NJ and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Nicholas Apostolopoulos


We are excited to welcome Nicholas Apostolopoulos, MD to Affiliated Eye Surgeons.
Dr. Nicholas Apostolopoulos was born and raised in Hanover Township, NJ. He graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a BA in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Between undergraduate and medical school, he spent two years conducting research in the Genetics Department at Harvard Medical School. He completed his medical school at Yale School of Medicine.
Among his many accomplishments, he was elected as a co-president of his class and a member of the medical school admissions committee. He developed a keen interest in ophthalmology and took an extra year to complete a research thesis on eye development. He furthered his education and training at Yale to complete his internship and residency in Ophthalmology. His passion has always been to master the science as well as the art of medicine – he cared for every patient as a family member and devoted himself to the residency program and education and was awarded the prestigious Patrick Mathews Award for exemplifying his devotion to the profession.
Dr. Apostolopoulos has an active clinical interest in cataract and refractive surgery and complex anterior segment surgery for adults using the latest technology and surgical techniques. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has published several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Journal of the American Medical Association Ophthalmology.
We are excited that he is returning to his hometown and join Affiliated Eye Surgeons. He hopes to bring his passion for helping patients see better and takes pride in every patient whom he sees and in every surgery that he performs. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Apostolopoulos enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter as well as traveling, hiking, camping, skiing and cycling.
